Original Medals

Prices of original medals vary depending on the type of medal and the current market availability. One thing to remember is that for WW1 medals the medals had names along the rim or on the reverse of the stars. Earlier campaign medals (Boer War, Crimea etc) were also named on the rim, so you will in effect be getting someone else’s medal, unless you specify an un-named example, however un-named original medals can be rarer and more expensive.

WW2 campaign stars and medals were not named, and as such are much easier to get originals, although some stars, such as the Air Crew Europe Star are quite rare and thus command higher prices.

Original gallantry medals (such as the Military Cross, Military Medal, Distinguished Conduct Medal) are also very expensive, and for these it is well worth considering museum quality replica medals which can be purchased at a fraction of the cost of the original. For example, an original WW1 Military Cross in good condition will be at least £500, but a museum quality replica (if it is in a frame, no one will know the difference) can be purchased for £30 .

Replica Medals:

Replica Medals are die struck and are perfect for replacing missing medals for framing, they are not good enough for wearing though. If the medal you desire is not listed below, please just let us know what you are after and we will see if it is available.
